- I also had the same problem w/ a new Pressario 9546 Pentium 100 The
- shivaPPP is bundled w/ Netscape Navigator. Delete Netscape Navigtor
- that came with your machine and all related folders. The shiva ppp is
- bundled w/ Netscape because this verion of Netscape has its own
- dialer. When I deleted Netscape's entire folder, and removed shiva
- startup command in config.sys (or autoexec.bat, I don't remember
- which) I was then able to use Win95's winsock and dialer to establish
- a PPP connection to my own ISP. Then ftp Netscape 2.0 from
- Netscape... It is a more recent version than the one that comes w/ the
- new Pressarios.
-
- When you have done the above, all should work great.
-
- Now, if I could just get my 19,200 modem to actually connect at 19,200
- bps I would be happy. Anyone else having this problem? My highest
- connect speed is only 14,400...and I have gotten 28,800 connects w/ my
- Dell 486 w USR 28.8 v.34 modem in the past...
-
- Any help would be appreciated.
